Farmpedia is an online, free, open-access encyclopedia of sustainable, low cost, gender-friendly solutions to empower small scale (smallholder) farmers in developing nations. Chapters can be translated into local languages and also downloaded/printed (see bottom, left side bar for menu options). The book is intended for farmers and their families, farming organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international agencies, agricultural extension personnel, schools and colleges. Each chapter critically evaluates an innovation and provides practical assistance to get started. The chapters were written by students at the University of Guelph, Canada, from 2016-2021, and 25 new chapters will be added each year starting in 2022. Farmpedia was founded and is being edited by Professor Manish N. Raizada, Department of Plant Agriculture, University of Guelph. The Associate Editor in 2017 was Dr. Jen Wilker (now at CIAT, Colombia). The Editor is grateful to Phelystus Wayeta (Kenya),for publishing assistance. Many of the chapters of this book originated in conversation with smallholder women farmers in Nepal as part of the Sustainable Agriculture Kit for Nepal project (SAKNepal), generously funded by IDRC (Ottawa) and Global Affairs Canada as part of a CIFSRF project in collaboration with LI-BIRD (Nepal). For questions or comments, please contact Prof. Raizada (raizada@uoguelph.ca).
